Storm Arwen Nails Mast on Endeavour Replica

Reports came in over the weekend from both The Real Whitby facebook group + The Whitby Gazette that the mast on the replica of the HM Bark Endeavour got nailed during stormy high winds over the weekend.

Owners of the replica vessel have reportedly secured it with steel cables until they can fix it properly.

This particular version of the Endeavour was originally located on the waterfront at Stockton-on-Tees before being sold and moved to Whitby in 2018 as part of the “Cook 250” celebration.

Highly Rated Yorkshire Eatery Catches Fire

News came in from the Whitby Gazette via Facebook on Thursday that the popular “Star Inn” at Harome, near Helmsley (Michelin Rated) had suffered a bit of a fire.

There has now been a follow-up story via the Daily Telegraph that Police believe the fire was deliberate.

The owner is hoping to be able to re-build the place.

Scarborough Council to Waste Money on Electric Vehicles

According to the Whitby Gazette website, Scarborough Borough Council apparently plans to convert more of it’s vehicles to expensive and hopeless electric things after councillors have been duped into going along with the “climate emergency” nonsense that’s a total scam (Whitby Gazette similarly blissfully ignorant).

To understand why this move is a waste of time, check out this video playlist exposing the nonsense…..

Mission Impossible Movie Being Filmed on the NYMR

Word has reached me via YouTube that they’re filming scenes for the latest Mission Impossible movie on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

A video was put on YouTube of one of a pair of Class 66 Diesel Locomotives being shifted from York to the popular Yorkshire-based heritage railway by road after a landslip knackered any hope of sending the locomotive by rail on the track that links Middlesbrough to Whitby.

Haven’t seen anything about it elsewhere yet.

Update: Just got confirmation via ITV’s Twitter feed for the regional news…..

Your New YorkshirePage Website About Yorkshire

If you’ve visited this website before, you may have noticed it has changed a bit, as mentioned on the about page.

This website has gone beyond being just a page of Yorkshire links, and merged a number of individual sub-domain based sites into one big website to try make them less of a pain in the butt to manage instead of seperate websites for:

  • Yorkshire Links page
  • Yorkshire Tourism Website
  • Whitby Website
  • Whitby Piers Website
  • Scarborough Website

They will from now on be merged into here to update and drive traffic to (if things go to plan for once). Continue reading “Your New YorkshirePage Website About Yorkshire”
